| I am very, very tired ,and I'm about to go to bed. But I had been meaning to post this:
Good news! Jessa did well at her audition and she got a music scholarship! Half of her tuition for next year is covered. I'm very proud of her.

| I love this picture! Jessa & Genny & Will backstage during the last weekend of Brigadoon.

| The play is over. I watched the final performance on Mother's Day. My sister & a few other friends came & we watched it together. We had a wonderful time. I think this performance was the best ever. Everyone had improved since final dress three weeks ago. The shows I saw from the light booth were good, but it's hard to really focus on watching.
It's strange to suddenly not have someplace we need to be every day. I am trying to catch up on everything at once. I am not terribly good at resting. But then, here I am on the computer....

| I love watching a play come together: The rehearsals in front of an unfinished backdrop, the choreography, the building and painting, the director running around in circles pulling her hair... Ah, the fun of it all.
And now, we get to see the results: the show really did come together in spite of everything. I got to run lights tonight. And now it's very late. Good night.

| I've been involved in an ongoing discussion on Facebook:
Shannon wonders if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?
Robert: It depends on who is doing it.....?
Robert: Or maybe what body part you are putting in and out....?
Me: Or maybe it's the turning yourself about that's what it's all about. Since that is technically when it's said. Must think more about this...
Robert: Actually Gena, I think the true nature of hokey pokeyness involves the entire process....the putting in and out...AND the turning all about.
Jill: first you gotta turn yourself around....then that's what its all about
Me: I had always thought, too, Robert, as I had been taught, that the entire hokey pokey process was indeed, "what it's all about." But a closer examination of the grammatical construction does show that it may be only the last item mentioned on the list that is truly "what it's all about." Certainly, the turning of one's self about does at least appear to be the climactic moment of the dance.
Tina: Wow...I didn't know there were other people out there who sit there and analyze nonsensical things and try to find answers where none seem to be necessary. I am SO happy right now, LOL!
Me: Hey, me, too!
Robert: Well, ladies, I think it might be constructive to consult the mission board to get the missionary slant on things. I don't know what their position will be. This may be a huge debate at the next assembly of Southern Baptists. It's hard to imagine the input each delegates may contribute.
Me: That will be interesting. I wonder if people will have to agree with the SBC's views on the hokey pokey to be accepted to their mission board.
You know, in spite of my comments, I confess that on reflection, I actually do believe that it is the entire "hokey pokey process" that is being referred to in the concluding statement that "that's what it's all about." As my daughter [Jessa] pointed out earlier today, "the hokey pokey is more than the sum of its parts."
...none of which answers the question of whether the hokey pokey is "what it's all about" in the cosmic sense. But at least we've cleared the way for that larger discussion. | | |
